Welcome to The London &
Home Counties Terrier Club...
THE
LONDON & HOME COUNTIES TERRIER CLUB
Group
Captain A. G. Sutton OBE was in the
chair at the inaugural meeting of
the London & Home Counties Terrier
Club held 10th December
1964 at the Albert Restaurant,
Victoria, London. At the same time
Mr B. G. Dennis was elected
chairman, Mr T. J. Horner secretary
and Mr C. W. Rippingale treasurer.
Mr Horner held the position of
secretary for fourteen years until
retiring in 1979 through ill
health. Mr Reg Hunt and Mr Wally
Topham temporarily filling the
position until April 1981. At that
particular time the L & H C T C was
in the doldrums, entries were low
and a number of difficulties in the
structure on the club were badly in
need of updating. From 1981 Mike
Homan became club secretary, Mr Pat
Burke elected chairman and Mr Cyril
Windsor elected treasurer.
Alterations were made to the
structure of the club and the
situation rapidly improved. The
club entered into its halcyon years
and became one of the most important
show dates on the calendar Due to
ill health Mr Pat Burke retired and
shortly afterwards due to business
demands, Mr Cyril Windsor also
retired from his position. Mr Peter
Eva was elected chairman and
Margaret East treasurer. For almost
20 years Peter occupied the chair.
Margaret retired from the position
of treasurer and emigrated to
Australia with husband Terry, who
also served on the committee. At
that time, the current club
secretary Mrs Gill Thomas became
treasurer. After serving on the
committee for a number of years, Mr
Brett Lay was elected chairman and
is the current holder of the
position. Ms Alice Levy was elected
treasurer at the last AGM – the
position vacated by Mr Alan Muir.
Mike Homan is the current president.
At
the present time, the longest
serving members of the L & H C T C
are Ella Eva (retired from the
committee a few short years ago) and
Mike Homan, both coming aboard
during the second half of the
1970’s.
The
London & Home Counties Terrier Club
officers and committee of today are
devoted to club and all breeds of
terrier – I have no hesitation in
saying the club is in safe and
strong hands.
Mike
Homan
